Tempeh is an Indonesian traditional food processed by soybean fermentation by Rhizopus oligosporus mold which is inexpensive, has the distinctive flavour and high nutritional value. High protein tempeh has been accepted as a healthy food. However, tempeh is still associated with low socioeconomic class food. Therefore, it is necessary to look for an alternative tempeh processing to increase its economic value by processing tempeh into yoghurt and brownies. The aim of this community service is to increase the community knowledge about the diversification of tempeh processed products in general and in particular to provide a training about the processing of tempeh juice into yoghurt and tempeh pulp into brownies in order to help the increasing economic value of tempeh production from Somber small industrial centre in Balikpapan. Methods used are gradually from: (1) initial preparation in the form of a location survey and a socialization team formation, (2) training preparation in the form of yoghurt tempeh and brownies tempeh production as a tester, banners and brochures printing, and tempeh production process documentation for presentation material of training socialization, (3) implementation of training, up to (4) evaluation of results in the form of product organoleptic survey. The results of organoleptic test showed that yoghurt and brownies from juice and tempeh pulp were accepted and preferred by Somber small industrial centre community as panellists with a rating score of colour, aroma, texture and taste are 1.6; 1,2; 1,2; 0.8 for tempeh yoghurt and 2.6; 2.2; 2.2; 2.8 for tempeh brownies, respectively. Through this program, the tempeh production from Somber can be increased and processed into innovative products that have a higher selling value. Economic analysis and feasibility study is needed to keep this activity run continuously.

Abstract

Diversification of energy use becomes a very important issue because of the decrease in the source of oil raw materials. Biogas is a renewable energy that can be used as an alternative fuel to replace fossil fuels such as kerosene and natural gas. Utilization of livestock waste to produce biogas can reduce commercial energy consumption such as gas and wood fuel. The purpose of this activity is to apply biogas technology and reduce the negative impact of pollution of cattle waste. The topography condition of Kalisalak village which is located in the highland area plus access location that is difficult to reach cause the gas fuel distribution process (LPG) is not optimal. Practicing skill by doing counseling and practice of making biogas digester and also performing assistance is very appropriate for the condition of Kalisalak Village community. The result of the dedication activity that 100% partners understand and able to make biogas digester. Five domestic digester units with volume 300 liter per unit are produced that can produce biogas from cow dung waste which can reduce the cost of gas fuel (LPG) by Rp. 23.000 every month, the environment is more awake from the smell of smell and greenhouse effect of cow dung waste pollution. With the application of biogas technology household scale is able to save the cost of the need for gas fuel, in addition to the more environmentally maintained hygiene.

Abstract

Even though the population growth in East Java at SUPAS 2015 has decreased (1.9% per year) but it has the consequence of increasing the number of workforce along with the agricultural land is getting narrower and the carrying capacity of the environment decreases. Along with that, non-agricultural employment opportunities in rural areas are increasingly scarce, this condition encourages residents to leave their home areas and seek livelihoods in other areas. There are two reasons why the international mobility workforce because employment opportunities in the country are not comparable to the number of job seekers. Both employment opportunities of relatively rich and developing countries can absorb large numbers of Indonesian labor migrants. Especially the Middle East, Malaysia, Singapore and other Asean countries. In addition, the country can provide attractive income so that it can improve the standard of living of workers and foreign exchange. Migrant workers who have worked in destination countries can streamline the migration of migrant workers. Besides that there has been dependence between Indonesian and Malaysian workers. In development in Malaysia, many workers in the country have middle to upper education who are reluctant to work on plantations and construction. On the other hand in Indonesia the excess of job seekers and wages is relatively very low. Although the employment status of migrant workers can be said to be low, their income is relatively large and can be sent to areas of origin as remittances for living and education costs. But for future thinking, some think about developing a livestock business, poultry shop, RPA. These livestock activities can reduce unemployment in rural areas and can create productive businesses so that they do not depend on the families of migrant workers and can gather with household members and reduce social problems given that this village has an informal informal sector (prostitution).
